PARK FALLS

New farmers market

in Park Falls starts July 28

People from the northern Price County area, along with farmers and gardeners who have extra produce available, should be interested in a new farmers market that will operate from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays starting July 28 in Park Falls. The market will be held at the city park on Sherry Avenue, across the street from the Flambeau Hospital.

Interest in local foods has skyrocketed over the past several years as people have learned to recognize the value of fresh whole foods. Farmers markets are a way to develop relationships between local growers and customers who appreciate the nutritional, societal and social benefits of local foods. The Park Falls farmers market will complement the availability of local foods that are already being sold at farmers markets in Catawba, Phillips and Prentice.

Growers who would like to sell at the market should contact Linda Daubner at 715-762-7457 to arrange for a vendor space. Customers should park on the street rather than using the parking lots for the hospital or clinic so those spaces will remain available for patients and their families.
