Dr. Temple Grandin to keynote animal husbandry conference in Wisconsin

Animal handling and well-being is an important issue for production agriculture, therefore the Wisconsin Farm Bureau is a co-sponsor of the Wisconsin Dairy and Beef Industry Animal Husbandry Conference, set for 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 5 at Liberty Hall in Kimberly.

The event’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Temple Grandin of the Colorado State University who will be there to discuss dairy and beef cattle handling strategies. In addition, University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Dr. Pam Reugg will discuss trends in dairy and beef cattle wellness and care, while others will share information about dairy and beef quality assurance and stockmanship. Finally, Dr. Janice Swanson, director of animal welfare at Michigan State University will discuss past, present and future opportunities and challenges when it comes to animal welfare.
